The Scott Schreiner Golf Course has been a cornerstone of Kerrville for over a century. It first opened in 1924 as the Kerrville Country Club, a private nine-hole course carved into the rugged beauty of the Texas Hill Country. A decade later, in 1934, the City of Kerrville acquired the property, transforming it into a public municipal course and opening its fairways to the entire community. Over the years, it has seen thoughtful improvements with the most notable being the recent $4 million dollar renovation completed in 2025.
Today, this course stands as a living piece of Kerrville’s history where tradition meets modern golf, and every round is framed by the unmatched beauty of the Texas Hill Country.
The 2025 renovation project brought major upgrades to the greens, bunkers, and infrastructure, creating a more enjoyable and resilient experience for every golfer who tees off. The completely rebuilt greens feature new turf and improved drainage, offering smoother, more consistent play year-round.
Bunkers have been reshaped and re-edged, enhancing both aesthetics and challenge, while new cart paths and a new fleet of golf carts ensure a smoother ride through the course’s picturesque terrain.
Golfers will also notice upgraded facilities, including refreshed restrooms and the addition of a self- contained “Green Flush” unit on the back nine. Small details that make a big difference in comfort and convenience.
Beyond the physical improvements, what stands out most is the care and craftsmanship poured into preserving the course’s timeless character.
Whether you’re a longtime local or a first-time visitor, Scott Schreiner Golf Course invites you to experience the historic course in a whole new light — refreshed, revitalized, and ready to play.
