“The duck reflects what Meadowbrook Golf Course
This new brand identity marks a fresh chapter for Meadowbrook Golf Course, one that celebrates its unique natural environment as much as its redesigned layout. Keep your ears open, if you hear the whistle, your next shot just might find the fairway.
With the heavy construction behind them, the agronomy team has turned their attention to the final step of Meadowbrook’s renovation - bringing the course to life with lush, new grass.
To ensure a high-quality putting surface, Meadowbrook has replaced all Tifdwarf bermudagrass greens with TifEagle, another hybrid bermuda used at both city courses, Rockwood Park and Pecan Valley. With a few more months of growth and conditioning ahead, the course is on track to reopen by the end of summer 2025.
“We’re almost there,” says McClure. “Walking the course now, you can really see the vision coming to life. From the tee boxes to the native landscaping, it’s all falling into place. We just need to give the grass a little more time to mature.”
Alongside the course enhancements, a brand-new maintenance facility has been constructed to support the ongoing care and conditioning of the course. This modern hub will house the agronomy team and ensure that Meadowbrook’s new turf, greens, and infrastructure stay in pristine shape long after the course reopens.

In keeping with the city’s commitment to sustainability, the renovation of Meadowbrook Golf Course goes beyond just turf and tees. Flower beds and native landscaping around the clubhouse and throughout the course have been replanted with Texas-native species. Vitex, salvia, and lantana, plants that thrive in the region’s climate and require far less water than traditional landscaping, now inhabit the beds along the back patio of the clubhouse. A sight that will please pollinators and patrons alike.
“It’s a win for the course and the environment,” notes McClure. “Not only does it reduce our irrigation needs, but it also gives Meadowbrook a strong sense of place. This isn’t just a golf course, it’s part of the East Side community, and it should reflect the land and people around it.”
That community connection has remained at the heart of the project since the beginning. Meadowbrook sits in a neighborhood with deep roots and a rich cultural history and pride, and the city has worked to ensure that the renovated course honors that legacy.
With long-term benefits, including increased tourism and recreational opportunities, Meadowbrook’s revival is about more than just golf. It’s a commitment to the East Side of Fort Worth, and a symbol of what public investment in community assets can achieve.
The City of Fort Worth views Meadowbrook Golf Course as a key piece of its portfolio of high-quality public golf facilities. By modeling this project on the successful blueprint of Rockwood Park, city leaders have doubled down on delivering memorable, accessible golf experiences for all.
“Public golf in Fort Worth is thriving,” McClure adds. “And Meadowbrook is proof that you don’t have to travel far to play a top-tier course. This is golf for everyone, and we’re excited to welcome golfers back soon.”
When Meadowbrook reopens in Summer 2025, it won’t just welcome golfers back, it will reintroduce itself entirely. With a layout that honors its past and a design built for the future, Meadowbrook offers a course where strategy shines, natural beauty surrounds you, and the gentle call of a whistling duck reminds you that you’re right where you’re meant to be.
So stay tuned, mark your calendars, and get ready to return to one of Fort Worth’s most historic fairways, reimagined for a new generation of golfers.
