TVC-Cherry Capital Airport Celebrates Historic Growth in Record-Breaking Year

Traverse City, MI — Cherry Capital Airport (TVC) is celebrating a historic milestone,

welcoming a record number of passengers in 2025 and marking the busiest year in the

airport’s history. Final totals show TVC served 935,816 passengers, a 19% increase over the

previous record of 787,114 passengers.

“This milestone is a testament to the Northern Michigan community and their unwavering

support for the airport,” said Kevin Klein, CEO of Cherry Capital Airport. “We are honored

that passengers trust us with their business and leisure travel, and we look forward to

continuing to grow alongside them.”

The record-setting year reflects TVC’s role as a vital gateway for Northern Michigan,

serving local residents while welcoming visitors from across the country and around the

world. Cherry Capital Airport is proud to connect people to their favorite leisure

destinations and to support business travelers by getting them where they need to be

efficiently and comfortably.

In 2025, the airport was served by seven airlines, offering 20 nonstop destinations that

connected Northern Michigan to regions across the nation and beyond.

Momentum is expected to continue into 2026, with passenger growth projected alongside

major infrastructure improvements. This spring, TVC is expected to break ground on its

“Gates to the Future” terminal expansion project. The project will add five new gates,

expanded hold rooms, an enhanced security checkpoint, and other passenger-focused

upgrades. Construction is anticipated to begin in April, with project completion expected

in 2028.

As Cherry Capital Airport continues to grow, its focus remains on delivering a high-quality

travel experience while supporting economic growth and connectivity throughout

Northern Michigan
