A new era has officially begun for one of Northwest Houston’s most cherished golf courses. Gleannloch Pines Golf Club in Spring was acquired by Advance Golf Partners in June, ushering in exciting upgrades, a refreshed brand identity, and a renewed vision for the club’s future.

As part of the transition, the club has unveiled a new name and logo, now officially known as Gleannloch Golf Club. The rebrand modernizes the club’s look and feel while honoring the history and natural beauty that have made it a fixture in the Spring-Klein community just south of The Woodlands, for more than two decades.

Rebranding for the Future

The name change—dropping “Pines”—is meant to broaden the club’s appeal while keeping its deep ties to the residential community it is located in. A sleek new logo accompanies the change, signaling a fresh start and a focus on elevating the member and guest experience.

“This club has tremendous potential,” said Advance Golf Managing Partner Josh Smith. “We’re excited to preserve everything that makes Gleannloch special while making meaningful improvements that elevate the experience for all. The new name and logo reflect the fresh start and long-term commitment we’re bringing to the table.”

Major Renovations Underway

Advance Golf is already investing heavily in improvements, starting with a $1 million-plus renovation of the clubhouse and facilities. Key upgrades include:

  • A brand-new bar, expanded dining room, and dedicated Kid’s Zone

  • Major enhancements to the golf course and practice facilities

  • New membership offerings tailored to diverse interests and budgets

  • Expanded community outreach and partnerships

These changes are aimed at creating a vibrant, family-friendly hub for both avid golfers and social members.

Meet the New Leadership Team

Alongside the new ownership, Gleannloch Golf Club is welcoming a seasoned leadership team that brings decades of experience in golf operations and course management.

Ian Hicks – General Manager

Born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania, Ian earned his associate degree in golf complex management and operations from the Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach. He began his career as an assistant at a private club in Northeast Pennsylvania before relocating to North Texas, where he joined Advance Golf at Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club in Keller. Over the past seven years, Ian has held multiple positions at both Sky Creek Ranch and Westridge Golf Club in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. His proven track record in operations, member relations, and staff leadership positions him to lead Gleannloch into its next chapter.

Josh Brewer – Golf Course Superintendent

A Texas native and 1994 graduate of Western Texas College in Snyder, Josh has dedicated his career to golf course maintenance across the state. Married with two children—one living locally in Houston and working alongside him at the club—Josh brings extensive experience and a passion for exceptional playing conditions. He previously served as superintendent at Raveneaux Country Club and, most recently, at Houston National. “Working on golf courses in the Houston area, you never know what Mother Nature has planned,” Josh says. His expertise and attention to detail are already helping elevate Gleannloch’s course conditions.

A Legacy Course, Reimagined

Designed by Jay Riviere, Gleannloch’s 27-hole layout is known for its undulating greens, strategic bunkers, and mature tree lines that evoke the feel of courses in Scotland and Ireland. With fresh leadership, major investment, and a bold vision, Gleannloch Golf Club is poised to build on that legacy and reestablish itself as a top golf destination in the Houston area.

A Recommitment to Spring’s Golf Community

For residents of Spring and surrounding areas, this change is more than a rebrand—it’s a renewed commitment to quality, service, and community connection. With construction underway and new programs on the horizon, Gleannloch Golf Club is ready to welcome a new generation of golfers while honoring the traditions that made it great.
